September 2016

What a busy summer in Helensburgh with Contraflow. We kicked off July with Guardians of Ancora the week long summer holiday club. Helen was very involved in this week with a P7-S2 group in the mornings and S3-S6 meeting in the afternoons. This was a great opportunity to explore stories from the life of Jesus and relevantly apply them to today.

Many of the young people spent a week this summer at an SU Holiday. We had young people at Lendrick Muir, Scoughall, Bassenfell and Kings Cross. Helen also spent a week at Kings Cross on Arran as Assistant Team Leader for KX3. These are amazing weeks for young people to spend time in a Christian community, studying the Bible together but also just having fun and experiencing lots of different activities.

Guardians of Ancora made its second appearance of the summer on the peninsula in a new location for their holiday club at Garelochhead Parish Church. The children and young people really engaged with the material and we had great fun "bringing light back to the city"

For the first time this year a group headed to Soul Survivor festival held at Lendrick Muir. The group experienced very strong winds and lots of rain but it didn't hamper their enjoyment or participation. From Big Top worship to seminars, the Eden Bus to 3G swings the group had a fantastic time and are looking forward to going again next year.

We kicked off the new school term with our Back to School with God service held in Helensburgh Parish Church and this was a lovely opportunity to pray for those who go to, work in and volunteer with our schools. A number of our SU groups are back up and running and we look forward to the rest commencing soon.
